There’s a reason why more couples choose SKY. And it’s not just because we’re a conveniently located wedding venue in Downtown Syracuse or because we have amazing food. It’s because of how simple we make the wedding planning process.
SKY Armory is an all-inclusive wedding venue in Syracuse, NY. This means that we have an entire team at your service from the moment you book your wedding, up until the big day. We’re able to do this because we have a wedding planner on-staff, a florist on-staff and a talented culinary team. All of which is included in the price of booking a wedding at SKY Armory.
Having this team on-site during the wedding planning process has allowed us to break down the planning process into simple, yet exciting steps for our couples. This is done through a series of a few meetings with the staff at SKY so that we can truly bring the vision for your big day to life.
One of these meetings is the wedding food tasting. But at SKY, our tasting isn’t just a meeting, it’s an exciting event that truly allows couples to revel in the excitement of the big day. Here’s how we do it…
The SKY Tasting Experience

A SKY Armory tasting is not your standard wedding tasting.
When you book your wedding at SKY, your planner will keep you on track during the planning process. This includes a vision meeting, followed by a design meeting. After these meetings, the only thing left to plan is the wedding menu. This is where the wedding tasting comes in.
We host a tasting event about 3-4 times a year, for our booked couples that have reached this step in the planning process. Because we cook all of our food in-house, we’re able to host the tasting in a unique fashion.
What to Expect on the Day of Your Wedding Food Tasting

When a couple walks in through the doors on the day of their tasting, they’ll see a sign directing them to one of our ballroom floors for a cocktail tasting.
This first segment of the tasting event allows them to try our signature SKY cocktails while they take a moment to look at a decorated mock ceremony space. Getting to see a ceremony all set up while enjoying a cocktail gives couples (and any loved ones that have joined) the time to get excited as they discuss the big day.
After a cocktail or two in the ceremony space, couples will head to the other floor for the mock table food tasting. This is where the real magic happens.
On the day of the tasting event, couples get to see their design vision brought to life for the first time. Each couple has their own mock table, complete with flowers, candles, chargers, tablecloths and any other specific tabletop decor. It truly is a special moment in the planning process because it gives the couple time to enjoy their wedding decor in an intimate setting.
Couples can continue to enjoy signature cocktails from the SKY bar as they mingle with their loved ones and bask in their decor.

SKY Armory servers will then begin to bring out the first courses of hor d’oeuvres.
At our last Tasting event, we brought out hor d’oeuvres that included:
Coconut Shrimp with Sweet Chile Sauce
Fried Polenta topped with Black Bean and Corn Salsa
Smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese with Hot Honey Drizzle
Korean Beef Skewer
Baby Crab Cakes with Spicy Aioli
Mushroom Arancini with Marinara
The next course is a salad course paired with white wine. We brought out our Malibu Salad, Caprese Salad and a Pear and Honey Champagne Salad to couples and their loved ones.
This is followed by three courses of entrees.
Entree course one included Chicken Florentine or Herb Crusted Cauliflower Steak paired with red wine. Course two was Teres Major Steak or Filet Mignon. And for the last course we served Seafood Pasta and Seasoned and Seared Salmon.
Each course is thoughtfully paired and created with fresh ingredients. Afterall, no venue does food like SKY does.
Couples and their loved ones get to enjoy each of these courses as they drink, chat and learn about the dishes from one of our SKY Armory team members.
Lastly, couples are brought a cake and dessert sample platter. There is also coffee available at the end of the event.

…Let’s just say that nobody leaves hungry after a SKY Armory wedding tasting!
And of course we want to mention that our skilled chefs are able to accommodate any dietary restrictions, both for the tasting event and the day of the wedding.
Choosing a Wedding Menu
There are a lot of steps that go into planning a wedding, but SKY strives to do everything we can to make those steps fun and simple. That’s exactly why we set up our wedding tastings in the manner that we do.
After the tasting, couples have a solid sense of what they want their wedding menu to look like. This is one more box checked off on the wedding planning list!
If for any reason a couple is still curious to taste other items from our menu after the event, we invite them to book a reservation to try our restaurant downstairs – The Tasting Room. The Tasting Room is what we like to call “SKY Armory’s test kitchen.”
Couples can contact us and we’ll set up a reservation for them to try additional entrees, hor d’oeuvres, etc. at our restaurant (located on the first floor of SKY Armory).
