Wedding favors. These can be a controversial topic. Some people believe that wedding favors are a great way to show guests that their presence is appreciated, while others believe that wedding favors are just another something for that drawer of stuff that never really gets touched.
Here’s SKY Armory’s take on wedding favors . . .
At our Syracuse wedding venue, we have a planner on our team that works with our couples throughout the planning process to nail down all of the little details (such as wedding favors) so that the big day is executed flawlessly. Since we have an experienced planner and team (and we’ve planned and produced more weddings than we can count), we always like to give helpful advice to our couples to make the wedding as perfect and stress-free as possible.
So here’s what we tell our couples about wedding favors:
Wedding favors are absolutely not necessary! There are plenty of other ways to show appreciation to your guest and enhance the guest experience (such as fun stations, late night snacks, a photo booth, etc.). But even though wedding favors aren’t necessary, they can still be a fun addition if done well!
So if you choose to do favors for guests at your wedding, there are two criteria that we think you should follow. . .
First, the favor should be something enjoyable! Let’s face it, we all probably have more wedding koozies than we can count — and are bubbles really that enjoyable after our ages reach the double digits? We don’t want you spending more money than needs to be spent. So keep in mind the word “enjoyment” when thinking of a wedding favor.
Second, the favor should be something that represents you and your partner — after all this day is about the two of you. Do you two have a shared love of whiskey? Maybe a whiskey shooter as a wedding favor! Or perhaps you two are honeymooning in Italy . . . Offer guests an Italian cookie as a wedding favor to welcome them into your journey!
So now that we’ve established that, here’s a list of wedding favors we’ve seen/love that won’t end up in the junk drawer at home:
Sweet Treats (candy, a dessert to take home)
A Polaroid photo (Have someone come around and take a photo of each guest(s) and give them the Polaroid to take home)
Something they can drink (shooters, a small bottle of wine)
A name card with a sweet note written to each individual guest (this one can be a little more time consuming, but if your wedding is on the smaller side, it’s an extremely thoughtful way to show appreciation)
